Hello, I am Dietitian Eda Kılıç. I have been providing nutrition counselling since 2020; since May 2024 I have been seeing clients in person at my own centre in Konak, İzmir, and online with clients who live in other cities and abroad.

When you decide to work with a dietitian, you want to know not only about their degree but also about how they look at nutrition. On this page I have set out my education, my professional path and the way I work in consultations.

My education

I completed my undergraduate studies in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and graduated in June 2020. From my student years onwards I have believed that nutrition is not just a matter of calculating nutrients, but is bound up with behaviour and motivation. For this reason I took training in motivation techniques while still a student and attended symposia where current topics in nutrition were discussed.

After graduating I continued my professional development. In 2022 I completed a three-module programme in functional medicine dietetics. This programme gave me the habit of looking at the connections between complaints and at their underlying causes, instead of dealing with them one by one. I also took training in low-calorie ketogenic diet practice and in sport and sports nutrition. Nutrition science is a fast-changing field; I see keeping up with current publications and training as an inseparable part of my profession.

My professional experience

I started work straight after graduating, at a nutrition clinic in Dalaman. During the pandemic I carried out my counselling online. That period showed that a sound follow-up relationship can also be built with a client at the other end of a screen; online counselling has been a permanent part of my work ever since.

In 2021 I moved to İzmir. For three years I worked as a dietitian in a doctor’s practice, and during the same period I also worked at a nutrition and counselling centre. Working side by side with doctors let me learn at first hand how a nutrition plan needs to run in harmony with medical diagnosis and treatment. In 2023 I began to offer my own counselling service, and in May 2024 I opened my own nutrition and counselling centre in Konak.

My approach to nutrition

Most of the clients who come to me have tried more than one diet before, lost weight and regained it. So my first question is not “how many kilos do you want to lose?” but “what have you tried so far, and why could you not keep it up?” The answer often shows where the plan should begin better than test results do.

I hold to three principles in my work. The first is looking behind the complaint: bloating, tiredness, sweet cravings or being unable to lose weight make sense when they are considered together with sleep, stress, digestion and meal pattern. The second is sustainability: a plan you cannot follow is of no use, however correct it may be on paper. Instead of lists of banned foods, I aim to build a routine that makes room for the dishes you love and fits your work and family life. The third is staying with the evidence: a new trend appears on social media every week; I consider it my duty to say openly what is supported by research and what is exaggeration.

If you have been diagnosed with a medical condition, I prepare your nutrition plan in line with your doctor’s diagnosis and treatment. A dietitian does not diagnose or recommend medicines; when I notice something that needs a doctor’s assessment, I refer you to the relevant specialist.

How I work

Our first consultation is very valuable to me. We talk together about any chronic conditions you have, your doctor’s recommendations, your daily habits and pace of life, and the foods you like and dislike. From this I build your programme, with plans you can follow and practical recipes you can prepare.

I know it is hard to stick to a plan to the letter all the time; invitations, events and social life bring different choices. So between sessions we stay in touch over WhatsApp, widen your options and follow the process together. I hold consultations in person at my centre in Konak, İzmir, or online by video call. Alongside nutrition counselling, my centre also offers body contouring and lymphatic drainage applications that accompany the nutrition programme.
