Ways to Cope with Hunger Pangs and Sweet Cravings

It is 11 pm and you are very hungry.
If it is 11 pm and we are very hungry, something was missing during the day: we did not take in enough energy. So let us first look back at the day. Water first, then fibre; if we are still hungry, a big bowl of cacık (yoghurt with cucumber) can be a lifesaver.

You are on a diet, but a sweet craving has hit.
On a diet or not, sweet cravings somehow always turn up. If one hits while you are dieting, look into the reason straight away: there may be vitamins and minerals we are short of. Let us meet the body’s needs so that the cravings fade.

You are visiting someone and the table is full.
The answer depends on the occasion. As far as possible, though, let us neither restrict ourselves nor lose sight of portion control.

You could not have breakfast.
That is not good. Breakfast time really does vary from person to person and with the pace of the day: 7 am suits some, while for others the first meal may be around noon. But if we skip the first meal altogether, the body struggles. Let us avoid skipping it wherever possible.

You are having a very busy day.
What I need to do is at least cover my protein. There are now many snack-style products for this; it is worth doing a little research and making sure you get enough protein.

You are at a restaurant and very hungry.
If I am at a restaurant and very hungry, I should go for protein. Grilled meats, cooked vegetables and salads should be our first choices.
